This is my favorite airport in the area for after hours fuel. The fuel pump is self serve for 100LL and the airport has one of the best beacons for buggy flying and it's very visible from well over 10 nautical miles. As an added bonus, you can access the bathrooms and pilot lounge after hours too, so this is well worth stopping for.

Nice little airport! The hours listed in the notes are incorrect. They are closed Saturday and Sunday.

Finally landed at KHLX after overflying it for years. Very nice airport. Fuel pump worked great and price was about as good as it gets. Friendly manager and modern and very clean facilities. Runway elevation is 2,600+msl so density altitude should be a consideration in warm weather. Runway slopes significantly, takeoffs to the north are downhill. Manager told me crosswinds are a challenge in fall/winter. Great GA airport.
