June 25, 2025Excellent location to stop, get fuel and enjoy a nice meal. I have stopped here three times over the last two months to purchase Jet A, and the fuel truck was ready for me as soon as I exited the helicopter. Waiting to settle the fuel bill only happened one time, and the delay was under ten minutes. Meal service at the diner is quite fast.

March 27, 2025Self service fuel works well. FBO personnel friendly and accommodating. On-site restaurant appreciated. One significant issue is the absence of tie-down anchors at ramp parking areas. Parking spots are clearly marked on a nicely surfaced ramp, but there is no way to secure aircraft.

April 14, 2023I’ve been here a few times a year for the past four years. Landing on 24 takes you right over a road with traffic, and 06 takes you over an active railroad. Watch your airspeed—you can float down the runway if the road or railroad left you too high! FBO never acknowledges radio calls on the Unicom. I’ve never had any luck getting full serve, but the self serve works fine. The staff is friendly but it’s hard to get their attention, as the flight school keeps the staff busy. There are no tie downs at the transient parking area; Bring your own chocks. Departing IFR is tricky. The RCO doesn’t work very well. It’s gotten easier since phone numbers are published. Quantico Approach is the controlling facility but Potomac takes over when Quantico is closed (see AFD for hours). All IFR departures are routed north to the BRV (Brooke) VOR, even when your route is southbound. That seems scary since it’s pointing right at the Washington restricted area. If Potomac is busy it can be a bit anxiety

December 1, 2022Great stop; food was good at the Robin’s Nest. Routing in my Mooney when heading NE was almost direct.
