Threshold Aviation KAUN Pilot Reviews
Jason
December 9, 2022Excellent small airport! There are several flight schools, so anticipate a busier pattern with students. Many pilots practice the RNAV 7 approach; the preferred runway is 25. Always check both ends before taxiing onto the runway. Winds are frequently different between the final approach and the threshold on 25. On gusty days, the terrain results in a rougher ride. Sky Trails Aviation mechanic shop/flight school is a fantastic place to visit if you have not seen it before. The hangar is a neat place to gather. The staff there are very welcoming!

July 9, 2022This is a quite busy airport with significant training traffic. If you need access to the bathroom after hours, use the AWOS code minus the initial digit. Wing’s, the on-field restaurant, is now operating seven days a week for breakfast and lunch. Excellent ambience! Superb food! The Ridge golf course is within walking distance; its restaurant is open for lunch seven days a week and offers dinner twice weekly. The two breweries near the field frequently host food trucks. There are no rental or loaner vehicles at the airport; the city of Auburn operates an "on demand" bus service for $1.50 per ride. ride. https://www.auburn.ca.gov/192/Transit-Services This location is my primary base.
